IS
THE BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON AREA FINALLY GETTING ITS PROPS IN THE MUSIC
INDUSTRY? During this year the music industry has witnessed a surge of rap and R&B artists hailing from the Baltimore/Washington area. R&B artists Amarie of Washington, D.C. and Mario of Baltimore have been topping the charts all summer with their singles “Why Don’t We Fall In Love” and “Just A Friend (2002)” and Mario recently dropped his second single “Braid My Hair”. On
the hip-hop note, there are two more artists from the area and once again
one is from D.C. and the other from Bmore.
Most of you should know of B-Rich by now, he dropped the summer
single “Whoa Now” which talks about hanging out in Baltimore.
You haven’t heard the second artist, Chink Santana, on the
airways yet, but you can hear him flow on the Murder, Inc. Compilation CD.
As soon as you hear him spit his lyrics you’ll know by his
constant D.C. slang where exactly he’s from. So, is the Baltimore/Washington area finally getting its props? As a writer for the only online magazine that spotlights local artists, I truly hope so. The four artists that I discussed in this article along with the well established artists such as Toni Braxton, Dru Hill, Sisqo, Kenny Lattimore, and Maya are only a small sample of the talent that’s in this area. URSCENE Entertainment is dedicated to spotlighting local talent and if that’s you then don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know your story. Story By
