URSCENE-FM's Jay Be Gets Caught Selling Weed On The Internet!

But most independent artists don't have thousands of dollars to spend on distribution and promotion," says co-founder and President John Beezer of the company
that created this technology. "Our goal is to help artists benefit from the best kind of promotion there is:
word of mouth."

Artists are paid within hours after each sale. "Every artist can get on the web and see exactly how much they've made every day. They can withdraw the money any time they like." So instead of circulating a sound bite web page (i.e. http://www.....click/artistname.com ) for people to hear your music but never purchase it, why not send them your music or let them download it and then have to purchase it if they want to hear it more than 3 times?

A unique feature of the system is that any fan can become an instant music distributor by purchasing a collection of Weed files and posting them on a web site. When people download and buy the songs, the distributor earns 20%—in addition to 10% and 5% of 2nd and 3rd generation pass-along sales, respectively.  "We're seeing a proliferation of Weed distributor sites," notes Beezer. "They perform a valuable service by collecting, categorizing, and recommending songs based on the shared tastes of the fans who frequent their sites." "We think this is the first on-line distribution system that truly works for everybody: file-traders have an incentive to respect the artist's rights, and to spread the music. Nobody's done that before," concludes Beezer.
