Lovell L. Elliott, I
Built a company on pride and Integrity

From Left to Right Lovell Elliott Jr. and Lovell Elliott, I

Spanning four states and the city of Washington, DC it is hard to find a large city on the east coast where Lovell L. Elliott, I has not had at least one class, built networks, or IT consultation session.  Lovell L. Elliott, I is (CTO) Chief Technology Officer and principal owner of VELL-CO INC Business Solutions.    VELL-CO INC.  is an Information Systems and Information Technology company on the rise.  VELL-CO INC.  houses offices in Illinois, Massachusetts,  Virginia, Maryland.  It is a company that specializes in the areas of Custom Computers, Custom Networks,  Website Development, Website Hosting, Smart Home Design and Development, Customizable IT Training, Electronics Integration, and Automation.  It's client list includes the US Dept. of Agriculture, Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Health and Human Services, TEK Systems, Sytel, ICON Clinical Research, Middlesex County College in NJ, URSCENE Entertainment, and list of many small companies.

Lovell Elliott, I is an IT Professional dedicated to making a difference.  He is a resident in the quiet community of Clinton, MD.  Although he does not discuss his past in great detail, what we do know is that somewhere along the way he assumed citizenship as a resident of St. Elizabeth, JA.  When asked where he grew up his answer  "No neighborhood held us for long, so we could have been everyone's neighbor."  Lovell says the family members that supported him most would have to be "father of his household God almighty and his now 13 year old son Lovell L. Elliott, Jr. [Shown in photo with Lovell]", "He was the one that always gave me the daddy I am proud of you look", and his nieces and nephews.  According to Lovell most other family members encouraged him to give up on his dream of someday having his own business.    Lovell, now 33, says he was not always involved in the IT Field.  In his earliest days of starting business he started an apartment locating service (EAFS),  a Production Company (King-Pin Productions), an import export company (VCI International Sales  Trade) which ultimately took him down the path of Information Technology when he began to buy and sell electronics and computer goods.  Once in the IT Circle he determined that it was his most favorable arena so he began to excel there.  Once going to work for other people learning and customizing a plan of action for implementing his own Information Technology and Information Systems strategy, a supervisor at one company he worked noted that Lovell's company was becoming as big if not bigger than company that employed him.  He said she even came to him and asked if he left to please give her very advanced notice because he would be hard to replace.  He said he himself helped to choose his replacement.  Today he says he and that supervisor are still very good friends.  According to Lovell "no matter how successful you are you should never burn bridges, you just might find yourself with your back against a large hole where bridge once stood."  Also he says "The toes you step on on the way up just might be connected to the ass you have to kiss on your way down."  He says he know that is a blunt way to put it but such is the harsh reality of life.  Lovell Says that if he had to choose one person to say he was influenced by he would have to say Bill Gates of Microsoft.  "The man was fired by one company ostracized by his peers and other companies, now who doesn't use something that has Microsoft's name on it."  He goes on to say "It is from looking at this that I adopted the slogan Someday the best  things in life will have VELL-CO On them."  According to Lovell the Name VELL-CO means Lovell's Company.  VELL is a name that most people from his childhood continue to call him.  He says with a smile "I have always hated that  name, but some how it stuck."  VELL-CO INC Business Solutions is made up of four smaller companies which it manages.  (ETEC) Elliott Technology Corporation [Electronics Design], (EST) Elliott School of Technology [Custom Training], VELLCO-Hypermart [Website Hosting & Design], Project HOPE [a program dedicated to moving persons on public assistance into the workforce].  Sitting at the head of the company's 7 member board of directors Lovell helps to steer this ship in the positive direction it is moving.  Jokingly his Sr. Partners have stated "Lovell Adapted the Batman syndrome long ago.  The Batman Syndrome is where part of his name appears on different aspects of the items that are in use, much like the bat mobile, bat boat, bat plane were named after batman.  Much like Robin to Batman we still love him and admire him."

Lovell is not just a member of executive management, he personally trains every technician and trainer that enters the company.  In addition he helps with the design and layout of many of the items the company builds customized for it's clients.  He is also one of the company's most active trainers.  As recently as March 1, 2002 completing training for the Department of Health and Human Services.  Lovell continues to smile as he looks into a data base that boast the completion of his 2046th class which includes his 13,422th student.  He also boast a company record of building over 3000 databases.  He says he loves the look on his students face when they just learned something new. His teaching style can only be described as edutainment which blends entertainment into his lesson plan.  Lovell says his teaching styles makes use of Jokes, Music, Past Experience as well as the actual lesson.  According to him he says to his students at the start of class "you have come to a comedy show that has a lesson hidden inside."

As a manager most of his employees says he does not like to be referred to as the boss nor Mr. Elliott.  He is described as very down to earth and a person that even meeting him in the company is never introduced as the head of the organization. " In fact he usually just introduces himself as Lovell, you have to find out from others that he owns the company" according to a number of employees.  Lovell says this approach allows him to get to know his employees on a more personal basis.  He says "no one is intimidated by my position if they don't know what it is" .  There are many stories of employees thinking he was just the average employee and had long detailed conversation with him, only to find out from others later that they just talked to the guy that signs the pay checks.

When asked what would he tell other wishing to follow in his footsteps.  He says "Follow your heart", "don't listen to those who have not and tell you that you can't have", "don't be afraid of your success or your failures", "Each failure is a lesson that eventually leads to a success", "No one can be wrong all the time, even a broken clock is right twice a day. You just have to be faithful and wait for your time", finally "add GOD in your plan and you will always be on a path to success."  When asked where did he wanted to go in life he answered " I am not really sure what I want to be when I grow up, but what ever it is I want to be able to look back and say I helped people."  Lovell says he remembers a writing that taught him a lesson.  "The writing spoke of at a funeral when you look at a persons epitaph it list two dates that everyone views as important.  First is the day the person was born and the other the day the person died."  Everyone, according to Lovell, "completely overlooks the most important thing there.  The most important part there is the dash, the line between the birth and death dates.  It represents all the love the person shared, all the joys, all the sorrows, the good times and the bad, the lesson learned and the lessons taught, and finally all the lives this person has changed.  when I leave this world and people talk about my dash  I want them to say that it counted for something positive."
