Eugene Anthony Bryce Henry is a 27-year-old New York
native who is reaching for the stars by any means necessary. Henry is a
visual artist and an aspiring model/actor. A teacher at High Roads
Academy in Washington, D.C., Henry uses his visual art talent in
therapeutic lessons for special needs students. Henry is an Art Education
major at the University of the District of Columbia and loves working with
special needs children because he grew up as a special needs child. Henry
says that his artistic style is expression abstract. While attending
college in Pittsburgh, Henry lost his only sister out of five siblings in
an accident. After the death of his sister Henry felt that he needed to
“find himself” and felt a spiritual connection to Washington, D.C. while
visiting the area with a friend.
Henry describes himself as a very unique individual.
He also states that he doesn’t receive a lot of family support, so he has to
motivate himself. Henry feels very deeply about African American unity. He
states that African Americans are too quick to be negative towards another
and try to hold them down. Henry wants African Americans to realize that we
need to support each other in order to rise as a race.
Although Henry has never been paid to walk the fashion
runways, he has done some non-profit modeling in fashion shows in both
Baltimore and D.C. areas. Henry was also scouted off the street to act in a
film for the Howard University Film Festival. Not only does Henry want to
become famous, but he wants use his fame to make a difference. Henry says
that he would love to become a famous model and help bring other aspiring
African American models into the industry because models such as Tyson,
Naomi Campbell, Tyrese and so on, are not doing what they should to uplift
African Americans in the fashion industry. He wants to show the world that
beauty is not just “skinny white women”.
